Tonia Aiken's text takes a user-friendly, practical approach, and provides all the features nursing educators and students rely on for comprehensive legal and ethical advice. It includes chapters on risk management and conflict management, critical-thinking features, an emphasis on ethical issues, and examines the role of the nurse in the political process. After reading this, the healthcare professional will be better informed and prepared in dealing with legal issues. Educators will find this a useful tool for the classroom. -- Volume 26, No. 3, May/June 2004 issue of the Journal for Healthcare Quality.
I used this book for my Ethics class while completing my Masters of Science in Nursing degree. It is a great text book, informative, very easy reading, and not at all boring. Imagine actually enjoying reading about legal, ethical, and political issues; I did. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone interested in the subjects represented. It definitely contains great information and is surprisingly understandable without all the fancy terminology that tends to make some books dealing with legal issues difficult to comprehend. I believe that a good book should be easy for anyone to read and comprehend without having to consult a dictionary every few sentences. Although this book is not simple it meets my criteria for a good book. I did not need the dictionary even once.
