Ah, this is a wonderful book to remind me of my youth. As someone who knows Louie in real life, I can tell you that this book definitely captured his character. He used to wear that helmet everwhere. I have owned a copy of this book for years and would definitely recommend for young readers. It is a great book about an unusual kid.
Children and Adults will love this story!

I'm a 4th grade teacher that came across this novel by luck. I fell in love with Louie right away and couldn't wait to share him with my class. We laughed and we held our breath at many different turns that this story takes. All kids should feel free to express themselves as Louie does.
A must read for kids 7-77 who ever felt different

Louis Twitwhistle is not your average 10-year old. He wears a WWI battle helmet to school, has an archaeological dig in his back yard, and keeps a slug for a pet.His classmates entered him in a contest, proposing him as a new character for a children's series. They won first place in the nation. Louie's teacher went on to write and publish Louie's story.Left-over Louie is episodic in nature. That means each chapter is a story in itself. It's not the plot that keeps the reader hooked. It's the curious question, "What will Louie think of next?' The story is not short on action, whether its a game of "Who Dunit?" in "Monster of Surley Lagoon," or a misfired bottle rocket in "Getting a Bang out of the Guy," this book will keep you on the edge of your seat.Once you've met Louie, your life may never be the same. The next time you feel misunderstood or face a problem, you may find yourself asking, "I wonder what Louie w! ould do?" That could make all the difference
