Although I agree that this book is not necessarily for linguists, I do think that it was a God send when I was learning Arabic dialect in Yemen. This book will help you to realise that there are priorities in learning a language and also gives you some ideas about how to learn a language that there are no texts for. The principles in this book are for lay persons and I personally think that this is a good companion for any anthropology student serious about doing field work. As a teacher of English as a second language, I recommend this to fellow teachers.
