Leadership Your Way: Play the Hand You're Dealt and Win

As the author of this book I can say that the intention behind it was to dispell the myth that a leader must be all things to all people. We are born with a personal or behavioral style that creates tendencies that shape our behavior for the rest of our lives. Because of that style, we do some things -- some leadership acts -- well, and others not so well or not at all.Leadership Your Way explores the ten leadership acts (the ten things every successful leader must make available) in light of the four basic personal styles. The book helps you assess your own style and goes on to tell you which leadership acts you do well, and those you do not so well. This is helpful primarily because we all tend to honor and do those things we do well and dismiss or avoid those things we do not. This is why most leadership get in trouble. Once you know what you do not do well, you can choose to make personal improvements in that area, or find someone better suited to provide what is needed by the organization. If you wish an in-depth assessment of your personal style you can contact me at trantech@rmi.net ...Stay well.

Useful Application of Jungian Types to Leadership

This has been done before, but the author here does it very well--The book applies the four classic personality types to ten different leadership functions. In addition to the explanations of the author's view of the ten leadership functions, there is advice on strengths and weaknesses of each personality type in applying each of the ten functions. The author focuses on trying to work effectively with your personality type. He assumes (correctly, for most of us) that we are not going to change decades of personality traits based on reading a book. So he doesn't urge the introverted reader to "be more outgoing" or try to make the control freak loosen up. Worth reading for those who aspire to manage or lead.
