Yes, you CAN grieve for a long time

There is one plot device here that some readers question: whether someone can grieve for a loved one for a decade. I did, so I know that it is possible. Therefore, this book makes emotional and psychological sense to me in that respect. However, when the hero doesn't seem to recall the heroine after all these years...that does NOT make sense. Otherwise, this is a good read, with an alpha hero who is trying - but not succeeding - in becoming a gamma hero. Anne Stuart is currently famous for her gammas. If you prefer a somewhat more redeemable man, her earlier works are preferable (actually, I love all her books).

Even Harlequin lAmerican line, Stuart delivers...

For a Harlequin American romance, this is really top of the line, I have to say that Anne Stuart delivers, no matter what the genre or expectations! I have to say that while this is only the third book that I have read by Anne Stuart, this book is so good that I am tempted to say - this is the best! But I know that they are all the best... The only thing stopping me from reading all her novels at once is simply a time crunch - I know that in order to start an Anne Stuart book I am going to have to block out at least three, four hours straight - because once I start this author, it's simply impossible to put it down, impossible to even realize that I do have a *real life*, and my life is so busy that I simply don't have that kind of time block at once. I was wondering how Ms. Stuart was going to handle this romance - I have read that she writes "bad boy" stories, but so far this story was the most "bad boy" that I have read yet - a hero who is a gangster? Hard for me to swallow, yet Ms. Stuart does this so well, that the romance in this book far surpassed any romance that I have read in a long, long time... Anne Stuart always delivers whatever is expected, and if Harlequin American readers expect a warm fuzzy romance than that is what she delivers ... with a bang. Katharine is a girl with the perfect job, the perfect features, the perfect perfectionist - who is engaged to the perfect man, and if all this is a little boring - well, that's exactly the way she wants it. Her heart was broken once before, ten years ago, and she never wants to go through that experience again - and if a little lack of excitement is the price to pay, so be it. Except that the man she once thought dead is suddenly very much alive ... and he seems to have totally forgotten her existence. Suddenly, Katharine's heretofore drab but predictable life is turned upside down, and she suddenly realizes that while she doesn't like the twist her life just took, it's also impossible to go back, to the way she was before all this happened. She can't anymore turn back into predictable, punctual, hard-working, boring Katharine. This storyline is done extremely believably, (it has to be believable, Anne Stuart is the most believable author I have ever read). When we are given the explanation as to why he has forgotten her - it makes sense to me. When we are shown the depth of her feelings, this makes sense to me as well. But most of all, this is a story of ups and downs, of strong emotions and passions, for better or for worse, acknowledged or not, and especially this is a story of impossible love - with the impossible turning into something that might be possible after all... And through it all, the characters remain true to themselves, they never do anything that makes you dislike either of them (the way so many other stories do) - so that you are rooting for both of them (maybe that's why her stories work so well). One more thing - Anne Stuart writes happy endings! I

Another 10 from Stuart!!!!!!!!

Another Keeper from Stuart. Anne Stuart is one of my favourite authors, and she does bad boys we love better than anyone in the business. I love Moonrise, To Love a Dark Lord, Prince of Swords, Nightfall and Ritual Sins, but many of her old series works are just the same power - the ability to reach in and grab your heart. You don't read Stuart, you live it. Often you cry, she is that powerful of a writer. And once again she demonstrates it with this short book of of the Here Comes the Groom for Harlequin. WOW what a story.Katherine Lafferty was 20 years old a good girl when she met Danny McCandles, the boy from the wrong site of the tracks. Did not matter to her, she loved him and knew she would spend her live loving him. What she did not know she would spend 10 years loving him and believing her was dead. On the day they were to elope to get married Danny is shot six times and pronounced dead shattering her how life. After a spell she went on living, but her world was greys, she cared little about her appearance, she drifted into an engagement she did not want, and her ulcer was driving her nuts. She goes to get wedding invitation to a wedding she resists, but is so apathetic toward the world that she allows herself to be pushed into it, and come straight face to face with Mac - at first she faints at his feet for Mac is the spitting images of Danny, but then she sees the crescent scar on his lips - the same scar Danny had and knows it is him. But he does not even remember, thinks her rather dowdy looking and a general pain to his world. She has spent her last ten years in love with this man and he does not even recall her!! She suddenly stops the mouning and goes after him with a vengeance, crashing her fiat into his beloved MGB - not once, but twice....Ah, life is suddenly good again........You will love these wonderful characters and won't be able to put the one down or ever forget it.thank you, Anne Stuart!!!

A very different romance!

Katherine, while a college girl, falls in love with Danny. Danny, however, seems to be part of the criminal element in the small town, where they live. Katherine sees Danny killed, or so she believes. Ten years later, Mac walks into her life. She believes he's Danny. And, she owes Danny a bit of revenge. Off kilter, is the way you'll feel, when you read this book. A touch of humor, a touch of mystery, and the right touch of romance, make this book one of Ms. Stuart's best Harlequin Americans. All category books, should have this much going for them!

Another Anne Stuart winner

This is classic Anne Stuart - wicked, passionate but above all, hilariously funny. This is Anne Stuart before her dark and dismal days writing with sparkling wit and mischievous evil. The heroine and the hero are both flawed but lovable, the situation is unbelievable yet somehow convincing and I can't recommend this book enough.
