Tradesman vs. Business Man

After reading Lawyers Are Liars I handed my boss a copy as a Christmas gift and as I described the book to him I was rather surprised by how little he knew about his own company which he has been running successfully for decades! My boss is a very sharp guy who is an expert at our trade but he couldn't remember if he had set up an S-Corp or a C-Corp. He knew he had a trust and he was "pretty" sure it is revocable but had to think about it for a minute. The point I'm making is that he is a tradesman first and a business man second. I'm not criticizing him as much as I'm reflecting on how I used to be through two businesses that I previously owned. As I read Mark's book I started to see the potential my businesses had and realized that they didn't have to fail. They were solid ventures with improper structure and poor tax planning and no real vision. I had business plans and had my taxes done by a CPA but where was my reward? A paycheck which is exactly what I earn now working for someone else. I had already started a new S-Corp before I read Lawyers Are Liars but I didn't really understand the power of these entities and how some creative thinking and planning can be the difference between financial success and disaster. I know you're all thinking "Duh!" but ask yourselves how much you rely on your tax guy and or lawyer to make critical decisions with regards to your finances and assets. CPA's, lawyers and insurance salesmen are in business to sell you products that you will buy because they said so. I hear the radio commercials for Nevada corps all the time and people do it. I had a business partner who boasted that because he had a holding company in another state that he was bullet proof. Who do you suppose gave him that idea? This book really opened my eyes and I want to thank Mark Kohler for writing it. It's not snake oil or rocket science just good advise and a lot of cold hard facts and you don't have to be a rich business owner to benefit from it.Some people have some idea about asset protection but it's being half educated that gets us in trouble right? The fact is that most of us have no idea about what strategies work and which ones are right for us so I recommend this book to everyone. Kurt

Incredible Insight For The Business Owner

It's about time!!! Mark Kohler has done an incredible job in this book for the lay person. He has made moving under the corporate veil easy and sensible! His application to real life and business examples makes for easy reading. I have worked with his office in establishing business entities and they have made it very easy for me to be successful in the business world. I can't wait for Mark's next installment!

AMAZING....CHANGE YOUR FINANCIAL FUTURE

I don't even know where to start. I thought that I was pretty saavy when it came to legal and investment strategies. I now realize how I have been trained to believe inaccurate information in order to fatten the bank accounts of the those who sell financial products and services. MARK IS A ROCK STAR!!!!! This is a MUST READ, for anyone who sincerely wishes to maximize and protect their assets. Great gift for those you love!

This book is very well written for the professional and layman alike. I am ordering copies for my parents and family. Anyone who cares about their assets and financial future should read this book.

Easy to Read and an Excellent Resource Guide

I am a lawyer and a small business owner and I loved this book. There is no book out there that calls out the schemes and then gives you the real strategies that can protect your business or investments. I will use the strategies from this book to help protect my clients and myself. The book gives examples that are easy to understand and are fun to read. I loved the chapter on O.J. Simpson.
