A dialogue exploring an interesting approch to legal ethics.

The author uses the dialogue form well to take the reader through a unified approach to legal ethics, one that, in opposition to so much else I have read on the subject, offers a positive conception of the practice. The approach used is grounded in the value of meaningful participation by clients in their social disputes. This is a quick and interesting read that will give lawyers and non-lawyers a much better appreciation of the values and virtues driving legal ethics. My only complaint is that there were questions I had about the approach that the author did not anticipate. I also wondered if the concept of meaningful participation really is broad enough to capture all that he claimed for it. Whatever the case, the book had its intended effect of helping me clarify my thinking about legal ethics.
