Laughing All the Way:Riding Herd on My Middle Age Spread by Pat Detmer
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 18 years ago
What a great book! I love Pat's sense of humor. Being from the midwest and visiting my daughter in Seattle every year,I was able to relate to so many things. A real laugh out loud, entertaining book. Highly recommend it to those of us that are fighting the middle age spread. I'd love to see the author perform in "The Music Woman" when and if it ever happens. I'd fly all the way to Seattle just to hear Pat recite the "Trouble Song" word for word. I'd also include a trip to Toby's to join her for a beer. Looking forward to her next book.

I have been reading Pat Detmer's essays in the Whidbey Marketplace for a long time. She has a large following here on Whidbey Island and her essays are eagerly anticipated. Some of her early childhood experience is Universal - she attended a parochical school and, for a while, thought that she wanted to be a num. Happily, she outgrew that vocational aspiration and is now able to bring her excellent writing style to a larger public than was available through the Whidbey Marketplace. Pat's essays are highly recommended by this fan who read them all and laughed all the way. Give her a try.

I laughed out loud all the way through the book. This book reminded me of growing up in the 50's, of catholic school, and just general good humor about life & relationships. Pat is an excellent writer with incredible observation skills and has the ability to capture ones heart and imagination. After reading the book I felt like I had personally experienced the joy of the journey of life with Pat. Pat's Sister Susie
