Latin America's Economic Development : Confronting Crisis

James Dietz has selected for this book 20 articles written by a wide diversity of scholars. The different perspectives used by the writers make this book attractive for the student of latin american economic development. Different perspectives on the role of the government in the economy or in how to deal with inflation encourage the reader to look for further analysis. Dietz's introduction to each of the book's sections is carefully written. Although there is a critical treatment of neoliberal economics "floating around" the book, the approach is fair enough and is complemented with detailed analysis of the heterodox theoretical perspectives.
