3rd in series

This is the 3rd book in this trilogy which I think is going to end up being a series because more books are supposed to be added next year. Great story. This hero is darker than the 2 in the previous books and there were times I wanted to smack him for not accepting the woman's love and her for putting up with it! But they were perfect matches.She was strong enough for him and it was so nice watching their romance. Another character in all 2 books, Cian, I want to have a story so I'm glad she's adding to these and hope he gets the first one! This one had more darkness I think than the 1st but the overall story was the romance along with the ongoing them of the rogue werewolves.

Last Wolf Watcihng- A Joyfully Recommended Title

Brody Carter is a Bloodrunner. The Bloodrunners are half human-half werewolf. They fight rogue werewolves who prey on humans. Michaela Doucet is human, although she does possess some unique abilities. Brody has been intensely attracted to Michaela since the first time he saw her at his friend Mason's wedding a few weeks ago, but Brody won't allow himself to get close to her. Brody is convinced that he's not good enough to kiss the ground Michaela walks on, never mind tell her how he feels about her, but Michaela disagrees. She feels the pull, too, and she sees the pain Brody is in, but he won't let her close enough to see what's wrong. Michaela has become a target for the rogue werewolves, so Brody is protecting her. They are together all the time. Michaela reaches out to Brody, but Brody keeps pushing her away. While Brody fights his attraction to Michaela, he and the Bloodrunners continue their hunt for the rogues responsible for killing innocent women. They and their leader must be stopped once and for all before they can carry out their evil plans to destroy the Bloodrunners and anyone who is on their side. Everything comes together in Last Wolf Watching. All of the action, drama, and excitement in the previous Bloodrunners stories continue in Last Wolf Watching to create another riveting story. Brody is a brooding, scarred hero with a tender heart. Michaela is beautiful, sensual, and very sweet. They're perfect together. Brody and Michaela make the book for me. I love them. 3.5 Stars - This may be the 'Last Wolf' in the trilogy but keep Watching for more Wolves from Byrd

In Last Wolf Watching, werewolf Brody sees himself as the 'Beast' to the lovely Cajun psychic Michaela's 'Beauty'. But as Michaela soon discovers, the scars on Brody's skin are nothing compared to the one's that Brody carries on his heart and soul. One thing that Byrd does really well in this series is that each romance is original, each wolf pursuing his mate has different issues and Byrd doesn't automatically have the mate bond solve all of the pairs' problems. In this story Brody has given up on women, because they either treat him with horrified revulsion or seek him out as a dangerous thrill. And even though Brody is drawn by the mate bond to Michaela, he can't believe she could actually feel more than pity for him. Brody fights the attraction, pushing Michaela away every time she tries to pursue what's between them. While I know the purpose of this is to build the tension between the pair, I was a bit frustrated with Michaela after awhile. She starts out as a strong fearless stubborn women, but she continues to try to give herself fully to Brody in spite of his continued rejections. I guess the pull of the mate bound was powerful stuff, enough to overwhelm her selfesteem but after a while it made me want to send her to a good therapist. As a backdrop to Michaela and Brody's mating 'polka' (one step forward two steps back), Byrd ties off the overall plot carried through the series by resolving the rogue werewolf serial killer mystery and uncovering the traitors seeking to lead the were's into a new age of annihilating humans. I have to admit the resolution was the reason I dropped my rating 1/2 a star -- I was a little disappointed that Byrd's 'twist' closed off the possibility that one intriguing character from the previous books will not get a story of his own in one of the future Blood Runner books that Byrd has planned. Hopefully, my two remaining favorites will be the ones to meet their mates next, because overall I enjoyed this series and am looking forward to reading more of Byrd's shifter romances.

superb paranormal romantic suspense

In Bayou country paranormal boutique owner Michaela Doucet cannot stand her lack of privacy ever since a rogue werewolf attacked her friend Torrance; she understands why half human-half Lycan Bloodrunner Brody Carter is assigned to protect her and her brother Max. However, even more frustrating is her attraction to the scarred acrimonious Brody as he refuses to allow her to even befriend him let alone love him. Brody wants the beautiful Cajun like nothing he ever desired before. However, he will not even hint at his need because someone as lovely as Michaela would not be seen dead with an oaf like him. Besides if he is not diligent she literally could be dead. The third Bayou paranormal romantic suspense Bloodlines thriller (see LAST WOLF STANDING and LAST WOLF HUNTING is a fast-paced tale that like its predecessors enables readers to believe in the fantasy elements especially the otherworldly species. The story line is action-packed from the onset but driven by the lead couple as she wants him and he reciprocates but ignores his and her desires until she takes the half wolf in hand. Sub-genre readers will enjoy Rhyannon Byrd's Bayou Bloodlines thriller that stands alone, but definitely is enhanced by the previous tales as characters from those novels return. Harriet Klausner

I am surprised I have any fingernails left after reading this nail-biter! But even with all of the suspense, Ms. Byrd never once lets us forget that this is Brody and Michaela's story. Their romance is definitely in the forefront throughout this book as this couple plays a very important role in the salvation of their friends, family, and the residents of Shadow Peak. My heart absolutely ached for Brody's pain, but his strength and manliness were never in doubt. No, he acted as many men might in real life, holding his fears and pain deep inside. It never even occurs to this mighty Blood Runner that sharing his past might help him overcome it, or that the act of sharing it would not turn those he cares for away from him in disgust. Michaela is just the woman who can make him see otherwise. Not only does she eventually succeed in convincing him to share his feelings with her, but she also manages to convince him that things are perhaps not as they have always seemed to him.
