Well.

I didn't have an preconceptions. I hadn't been expecting anything. And what I got was a singular read, a novel that kept surprising me, keeping me off-balance, one that made me react...one that affected me. It's surreal. It's poignant. It's about death...but it's not mawkish, it's not maudlin, and it's never insulting. There are some powerful themes here, but Mr. Cohen's style, one of simplicity, constraint and brevity, make this into a loving paean to brothers, to siblings, to family. 'Last Seen' is a unique gem, one that I would recommend to any reader prepared to deal with an off-kilter story chock-full of unadorned wisdom.
