Fictional/ Historical world war ll and The French Riviera

I throughly enjoyed this book. That hasen't been my sentiments for Most of the world war ll books I have read. This is set apart by the fact ...that THE WHOLE Story isen't Centered around the horrible death camps, and explicit torture. Yes the very harsh realities are here, especially right at the opening of the story..Lana's loss of her husband at the hands of an SS officer. As time goes on, and the story goes on, Lana becomes involved with The Resistance Fighters, and is sent to The French Riviera, it's there the story turns more into a romantic love/ Spy story, while still Fighting against the ruthless German soldiers, and saving as many of the Jewish lives that her and her counter part Guy Pascal can. Lana is the daughter of a Russian Countess, and it is that title and privilege that gets her invited to many prestigious affairs on the Riviera, making it her job to get as close as she can to all the high ranking German Officers, to hear any valuable information about when they are doing the sweeping raids, to send the Jewish population to camps.They are all in awe of her Beauty, her charm, and her title, and with this on her side, she is able to garner very helpful information. Her and Guy Pascal have alot of close calls, just enough to keep the story thrilling, with twists and turns.Lana shows her courage and resilience, love, and compassion, which all leads to an unbelievable ending !! It was a easy and quick read, that didn't leave you in tears, and restless sleep.. it was almost like a breath of fresh air, compared to the harsher, heavier, stories I have been reading.I think the Author did a wonderful job with Lana's War, and I absolutely would look into any other books she has written. I would recommend this to anyone who likes War/Spy/love stories, where the good guys win for a change !
