Great Hollywood Gossip!

This is one of my favorite "poop-on-the-scoop" Hollywood Books... I remember taking it with me on a trip to Hollyweird... This purchase was a second copy for me (the first got kind of worn out from multiple readings) Its wonderful and Lamparski did his homework! Also check out Hollywood Babylon, parts one and two, if its still available!

sad sad world of hollywood

This used to be my favorite book to cuddle up with at night when all was quiet. This is a picture/dialogue book you can really et lost in. We all like watching the old movies and this book features all the places the stars lived in their heydays in Hollywood.. Personally I find this book bittersweet and wistful. Its so sad to see how the stars struggled and often died tragically in their quest to bask in the limelight. Of all the books I have ever read on Hollywood this was is my favorite. After reading I always ask myself, " was all the stars chronicaled in this book struggles to make the "big time" worth their pain and suffering? This book really makes you wonder if it was.

Great Book If You Can Get It

I am an admitted Richard Lamparski addict. When he was actively producing the Whatever Became Of series, I would actively scout my local book stores to look for a new volume in the series. This book turned out to be a wonderful companion to his other books. Imagine Hollywood stories colliding with an ultimate travel guide to interesting LaLaLand sites.....and voila.....this is THE BOOK.At the time I bought this newly published book, I had never been to Hollywood. However, I started making plans to trek out west and now 20+ trips to LA later, I still find this book enormously entertaining. Why do I like it so much? It takes me back to a time when Hollywood was truly golden and no one realized the gold was just sprayed on glitz. Movie stars were bigger than life and you could go to a drug store and end up being the next Lana Turner. This book takes you to scandal sites, old movie star hang outs...and leaves you with the sense of being there.
