Can you overcome adversity by being in bondage?

Can you overcome adversity by being in bondage? Can you forget that you are human just because you are a minister? It is so refreshing to read a book with familiar Southern settings. Shante Dogan is a minister with the New Pilgrim Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. Living a life of secrets and privacy, she is always dependent upon her church members, and always falls short of getting spiritual guidance for herself. She is so secretive and so private that she puts her relationship with her love interest, Max, in jeopardy. In Shante's life, pain is inevitable but suffering is optional. Will she be able to free herself of the past and continue to walk and balance her faith in God and romance? Will she continue to earn respect in the community? The characters in this novel carried Christian values, and the author represented that very well by offering each character a challenge in his or her life that we, as real people, experience everyday. The emotions were there, and I could visualize each character. Even though the main character in the book was Shante, my favorite character was Max. He was the sweetest man I never met, yet I truly believe a Max certainly exists in real life. He was almost too good to be true. K.T. Richey wrote an insightful Christian Romance about the different types of abuse, romance in the pulpit, and how to handle negative press while being a strong female leader in a male dominated community. 5 Pink Diamonds Sistah Sheila of the SistahFriend Book Club

SO ON POINT......

Lady Preacher By: K.T. Richey Shante Dogan was the epitome of A Virtuous Woman. A woman after God's own heart, she loved the Lord first and her daughter, Camille, who was away in college. Everything else was put into perspective even trying to be spiritually free from her ex-husband, Kevin. It was time for the annual convocation again and no matter how many years Shante went, she continued to run into the same types of secular bishops, and secular ministers, apostles and the like. The men were Godly in front of the congregation, but were lustful and shameful underneath the surface. Shante was a pastor of a church, was well respected, loved by her congregation, was the catalyst in the astounding church growth since she succeeded her previous pastor. Shante loved her godsons and became more of a mother to them once their own mother died. She was a close friend of Max, their father, but as time went on, he desired more. Shante was being tried in the fire when trouble arose and some members of her congregation wanted her out. She did not feel comfortable portraying herself anything less than an upstanding woman of God. Shante desired more but was afraid to say the words to Max and was afraid of her past becoming her present. Revealing her past is the only way she could heal and be connected with the lover of her soul. Maxwell Patrick, was a Pastor, father, who was well respected and a widower. Max was left to raise three sons after his wife was killed. Max had known Shante since college, she was his children's godmother and they were good friends. Max's feeling grew for Shante and he was no longer interested in having a platonic friendship with her. On many occasions Max tried to tell Shante how he felt about her, but the would always push him away. There was nothing that Max would not do for Shante even making her his wife. Shante made excuse after excuse of why she could not be in a relationship with anyone. Even though God told him that she would be his wife, the more he had faith in what was spoken, Shante's actions were enough to make him doubt. Max continued to stand by Shante, and love her unconditionally. No matter what Max was there to take care of her, and to pick up the pieces if needed. The boys loved her as their mother as much as he loved her as his wife to be. Faith renewed he vowed, that Shante would be his wife. I liked this novel, it is a great example of the way God expects us to walk upright and try at all times to represent Him with dignity and honor. I give this book by K. T. Richey 4 stars and encourage Ms. Richey to use her anointing to continue write about the misconceptions of women in the ministry such as myself. Lacha' Mitchell WOMAN TO WOMAN LITERARY SISTAS

Blessings

Pastor Shante Dogan has a very good friend, Maxwell Patrick. They've known one another since college. Shante is enjoying the maturing friendship. Naturally, when things are going good, the devil has a way of creeping into our lives to wreak havoc. Is it wrong for a single woman to enjoy a meal with a single male? Well, the church board feels she's displaying improper behavior. Is this a resolvable issue? "Lady Preacher" by a K.T. Richey deals with the struggles that women who work in male dominated fields have to deal with. The emotions ride high as it's vivid from cover to cover. I highly recommend this read and look forward to more reads from K.T. Richey. Reviewed by: Carmen

Whose World Is It?

In the 1965, the late, great James Brown said, "This is a man's world but it wouldn't be nothing without a woman or a girl." Some forty-three years later Pastor Shante Dogan is learning a hard lesson while working in a man's world. Take the journey with lady pastor Shante who is as polished as they come -- educated, amazing attitude, crossing every "T" and doting every "I", but learns it does not pay off when working in a man's world. K. T. Richey delves deep into the stereotypes imposed on ladies who have been called to preach God's word. Attempting to find a balance between serving God and keeping people happy, leaving us with many questions? Can the single lady preacher have dinner with a single male preacher, dance with him, or even go to the movies with the blessings of her peers, or will she be look upon as less than desirable to preach God 's word. Ms. Richey charter development of the heroin and the secondary characters was awesome she allowed you to see and feel their pain, anger, joy, happiness and sorrow. Each character tugged at an emotion and I was there pulling for the situation to change. LADY PREACHER was placed in the romance genre, for me it was a Christian romance, no matter the genre, it is an excellent read and one you will enjoy. Reviewed by Toni Bonita for RAWSISTAZ Reviewers
