A cold hard hitting historical review of the whore of babylon

This is a MUST read for anyone interested in religion. This book together with "God is NOT GREAT" by Christopher Hitchens, puts to rest the idea that god exists. P.S. The true translation of this book is " The whore of Babylon" as the catholic church has been known for centuries. If you want to change it to the "Babylonian whore" it would also be acceptable, but the current title of the "Bitch of Babylonia" is utterly inaccurate.

Bravo Fernando.

Like a fun version of the Oxford history of Christianity

The author made an excellent research work and well, I'm glad he has the guts to expose all the truth and atrocities of the Catholic Church.. the language is a little strong.. and the writing is loose sometimes it's hard to follow. However, I have learned a lot from it and confirmed what I have read about the churches in other books. People who are interested on the plain truth about Catholic church should read it. As someone else said it is an "eye opener".. his writing is shocking.. I didn't like some comments, fe does have EXTREME views, but that doesn't mean they are false... it's like a fun version of the Oxford history of Christianity, which I found very boring.

Irreverent and brutally truthful

Wonderfully irreverent and with detailed documentation and references, Vallejo explores in his book the origins of Christianity up to today. Exposes the many crimes committed through the centuries by the papacy of Rome with their quest for domination and power, and the pretext of "saving souls". He lists the crimes committed during the Crusades, the Inquisition, and American conquests, with the thousands that were burned at the stake or murdered, to the more recent scandalous pederasty of the Catholic priests, and currently, the insistence of preaching against the use of condoms and birth control while the HIV virus kills thousands in Africa. Vallejo shows how the masses are exploited by the "teachings" of the Bible and Koran, and how the manipulation of miracles created all the mega churches beginning with the Vatican. This book is like Richard Dawkins' "The God Delusion", Sam Harris' "Letter to a Christian Nation", Christopher Hitchens' "God is Not Great", and the less know writings of the German Karlheinz Deschner, a critic of religion and religion institutions. It is an "eye opener" for anyone taught to accept that faith is the only reason for accepting religious dogma, or to perpetuate the religious beliefs of their ancestors no matter how strange, out of date, or wrong they may be.

A fantastic historical review of the semitic religions

This is a phenomenal historical book. It is clear that Vallejo has a broad knowledge of the classic literature and history. He strongly resents the Catholic church as the result of the knowledge of its history and after being raised in a catholic country where he was exposed to its authoritarian castrating influence. From the historical stand-point this book is a fantastic review of the semitic religions and their influence upon the west over the past 2000 years. The accuracy of the facts described in this book is magnificent. You can review the biblical quotes to prove their accuracy. The book is written in a non-formal style; however, his knowledge of the language is evident throughtout the book. For Spanish speakers is an easy, pleasent reading. Its vulgarity and profanity are unique. That, in part makes the book very funny and enjoyable. I couldn't stop reading the book once I started. Vallejo is as radical and fundamentalist as the religions he criticizes. Obviously, he didn't want to look at the positive side of religion. The big difference is that he does not need of your faith to support his points, just the knowledge of history.
