Kyuuto!

The book is very cute and I'm glad they made one w/ english. Condition of book was great too!

Great Book!

I love this book so much! I have made many of the patterns so far and all of them have turned out wonderful. The patterns are easy to follow. Although it should be noted that they make use of charts instead of the typical "sc,st...". But I think I prefer using the chart and diagrams to reading the words. The details and photos are a great part of the book. I would definately recommend this book to anyone who enjoys to crochet diolies or use crochet thread. Just great!

Beautiful - Girly - Definitely an Eye Treat

Like the title says, it's "lacy" crochet - all thread, all girly, very feminine stuff. It's focused on household items like a sewing case, doilies, basket ribbons, and sachets ... to name a few. I can see how many people would find it to be "fluff" but I absolutely love this book. It's eye candy with beautiful full-color pictures, and it's useful because it shows both the graphs (c'mon, crochet graphs are so much more helpful than wording that changes from one continent to the next) as well as US instructions. The beginning of the book even starts with detailed, beautifully photographed instructions on some crochet techniques. Overall, I haven't a bad thing to say about the book - it's girly, it's beautiful, and there isn't a single project that I don't want to play with.

lace crochet with charts

I haven't bought this book yet but I would like to suggest to those previous reviewers that were saying they found the charts difficult, please don't give up on them. I felt that way at first too but now I love charts. You can immediately see where you are in the pattern. Sometimes patterns are worded in such a way that even an expert would have to give up. With a chart, you have a visual representation of the project. My preference to have some written and a chart. It might take you a little bit of time to become comfortable with a chart but trust me, it's time well spent. You'll wonder why all patterns aren't written this way. A few years ago, there was a magazine devoted to thread crochet that used charts but they went out of business. I was so disappointed when that happened so I was thrilled to learn that the Japanese books used charts.

If only all knit/crochet books were this well done!

I am mesmerized by how lovely this book is. It puts other craft books to shame. The directions are as clear as any I've ever seen. The book gives both verbal directions and symbolic charts that are easy to follow. Everything, from the paper quality to the print font are done to perfection. The patterns are for mostly small objects ...I can't say I'd make them all but they are delightful in detail and design. I have spent a lot of money in the past getting Japanese crochet patterns translated so I am delighted that whole books are getting to us English speakers! I hope there are more books in this line to come.
