I loved reading Martin Gardner's books since I was a kid. Unfortunately, though packed with mathematical curiousities, I found the present book a drag to read. Some chapters were particularly dry and others just too mechanical. The addenda to each chapter, trying to beat each topic to death, detract from the flow of the book. There are some nice problems in there, but you may want to skip some sections altogether.
Gardner weaves the magic of math
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 24 years ago
Gardner weaves the magic of mathematics again in this awesome math "thriller". After 'Time Travel', this is the second book I read, and I think Gardner does a wonderful job of going about math in a non-boring way. At some points of time, I had difficulty understanding whether I am supposed to be a complete novice or an advanced student, hence the 4 stars.
