"Knitting the Easy Way" is a great reference guide that is great for a beginner or a seasoned knitter. Easy to follow instructions that included graphics to make sure you are knitting stitches correctly...Two thumbs up!!!

This book was just what I was looking for. It had been many years since I had done any knitting and I wasn't sure that I even remembered how to cast on the basic beginning stitches. The book will open out completely flat which is a help when you want to keep it open to a page to refer to while following the directions. It starts out with several pages that cover the different types of needles, yarn sizes and other helpful tools. Then several pages have very clear drawings of how to cast on, and do all of the basic knitting stitches and ends with a chart of the common abbreviations and what they mean - an important list for a beginning knitter who has no idea of what the abbreviations mean in the usual directions. Then the book progresses through many directions for items to knit. Each item has a full page colored photo and very clear directions. These items range from a throw, dish cloths, pot holders,a Christmas stocking (felted), lace edging, a pillow, purses, mittens, slippers, hats, scarves, a baby blanket, sweaters, socks and baby and gift items and more. A beginning knitter could start with something simple like dishcloths or a scarf and then progress to more challenging projects. The items can be made in the colors you particularly enjoy - they don't have to be made in the colors shown - and today there are beautiful yarns available. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who would like to get started on this wonderful hobby and who doesn't have the time for a "learn to knit class" or who doesn't have a Grandma or friend to teach them. I intend to make several of the items from this book [ASIN:1412700523 Knitting the Easy Way]and can't wait to try making socks. Happy Knitting, Mary L

I first found this at the grocery store checkout line! Very frustrating that publishers are re-issuing knitting books with new titles. This version has a few extra patterns but the size and photos make it great for beginners.
Great beginner-intermediate book

I liked the large size of this spiral bound book as it made it easy to follow along. In addition to instruction of some basic knitting moves, there are several neat patterns in the book - I bought it for the simple turtleneck sweater pattern in the book!. It also goes into to detail about circular kntting for socks- you won't be afrain to turn the heal with these great photos of how to do it.
