Book Only

This listing looks like the whole kit (with yarn and tools) was included but I only received the book.

Fantastic Book

This is a fantastically helpful book. I received it myself as a child and I looked everywhere to find a copy for my own children. I was very disappointed to find that I only received the book though when the listing and reviews suggested I would be receiving the whole kit.

Great for kids and adults!

I am in my late 20's. I have read through a couple of "learn-how-to-knit" books. They have been so confusing and hard to follow. I bought this book for my 7 year old, but I used it more than her. All the projects are explained very well and the pictures are very helpful. Everything is simple and easy to follow. The kit comes with everything you need to complete a lot of the projects. For beginners it is a great start. Eventually, you would need to learn how to read patterns and more complicated instructions; but for now this book is a great start for young and old.

everything you need to start

This kit is great. The illustrations and instructions are clear and easy-to-follow. I bought this kit about 6 months ago, with no prior knitting experience, and have been knitting like a fiend, ever since. I decided to go with a children's kit to make the learning curve a bit easier on myself. Many of the adult books I'd looked at launch straight into pattern-talk [(RS) k1, p2, *k2, p2] before one is even comfortable holding needles in their hands. I also liked that everything I needed to start was included and all of the projects use the same yarn (weight) and needle size. This is important because I could focus on just learning, rather than picking the wrong weight yarn or needles at a store and worrying whether the pattern would still size correctly or not. While the yarn and some of the projects may not be exactly what adults are interested in, the skills learned in these projects are the fundamental building blocks for becoming a capable knitter. It comes with a couple hanks of yarn, a set of size 8 bamboo needles, a crochet hook, a blunt yarn needle and a couple of buttons. The only thing you need to provide is a needle and thread for sewing on the buttons and scissors. This book got me hooked on bamboo needles, granted they're perhaps not as fast as metal ones. They're easier on the hands and less likely to unintentionally slide out of your stitches, which can be a bit traumatizing when you're first learning, than metal ones. The only minor downside is having to wind the yarn into balls, which is a bit time consuming and unnecessary. Most yarn is sold in skeins and good knitting stores will wind your yarn for you.

Easiest way to learn

The easiest way to learn how to knit. I have been wanting to learn how to knit for a long time. Got this book as a gift and within the first week, did two projects. Eventually did all of the projects. Instructions were clear and easy to understand. Would recommend it to anyone just starting.

Easy, Fun, Addictive

I'm a 37 year old mother. I bought the book because the adult learn how to knit books where just too complicated. This book is easy to understand, the illustrations are easy to follow...the project are cute. The needles, latch hook, buttons and the book itself are all of quality. Makes a great gift for a young girl. This has also been a nice way of bonding with my 11 year old... We've enjoyed the book immensely.

THE EASIEST KNITTING book that I've ever bought!

I have been trying to learn how to knit for a few years now. My roomate at college tried to teach me how. The problem is that I don't know what to do on my knitting project, after I graduated and never see my roomate again. So I have a half-finished project that have been sitting in my basement for almost 2 years now. I picked up this book because it looked less intimidating than other knitting books. I started knitting right away once I got home. So far, I have done 2 projects and going to do some more! I LOVE THIS BOOK! It is the EASIEST knitting book EVER! Don't let the negative review throw you off. Get this book and start knitting already! :)
