This is the 10th novel in "The Cornwall Saga." Philippa Carr can somehow give us a history lesson which keeps us on the edge of our seat. How many history books can boast that?! This is the oh-so-romantic story of Zipporahs daughter, Lottie, who is rejected by her lover in favor of a coveted property. It is set against the backdrop of the French Revolution and takes us from those golden days of Marie Antoinette's wedding, to the first small riots in Paris and all the the way to the culmination and history changing French Revolutionary War without ever once becoming anything less than a page turner. Lottie and Dickon who were parted in their youth by Lottie's mother, who realized Dickon's darker motives, meet up again, but only after Lottie is already married. Dickon's wife is dead and Lottie's husband Charles goes on a wager to fight with the colonies in America. Like so many french men of that period,he did not realize the trouble brewing in his own country. When he is killed in America Dickon realizes the mistake of his life was to allow Lottie to be taken away from him to France and is determined to bring her back. But will she forgive the folly of his youth? Or for that matter, will he be in time to save her at all? A must Read!
A Simply Fantastic Historical Romance Novel !

This is the first book I've read written by the author. I absolutely love this novel and it has become one of my favourite books. This novel is warm-loving and has given me a lot of surprises and excitement. I admit I hate to put it down when I've finished reading it. The book emphasizes on family bond, romance and friendship. From the novel, I have learnt about the history and life in France in the 18th century; the great landmark of Paris - Notre Dame, the reign of King Louis XV and Louis XVI, the riots and revolution in Paris and the bad situation between France and England during that period. This book has really made an impact on me as I have become interested in the history of France in the 18th century. Three cheers for the author and the book " Knave Of Hearts" !
