Big stain on the cover.

Normally your books are in wonderful condition. It took 2 minutes to remove the stain on the cover. I hope this is a one time thing.

K-I-S-S Guide to Playing Guitar - by Terry Burrows

This is one of the best (maybe THE best) guitar instructional book I have ever seen. BEAUTIFUL, excellently done! Many pictures of outstanding guitars, too. It should come with an accompanying CD, so be sure to check on that.

Good place to start

I like the approach of this book. It starts off with an introduction to guitars, and then goes into basic lessons that you can also hear on the included CD. It includes enough theory that I can understand scales and chords, not just ape some fingerings.The one downside of this book, is that even a novice like me has spotted a fair number of typos/errors in some of the theory in this book - enough to leave me scratching my head at times, trying to puzzle out the examples. Mostly, it's little stuff like a chord explanation mapped to a keyboard diagram where the minor note goes up, rather than down. It's too bad, because I think the book is otherwise excellent.

Superb Step by Step Guide

I've already started to use this guide to teach my young kid. The main thing about it is that it's friendly. The author gets across some difficult ideas with a very clear style of writing. One to buy, I'd say.

This book and CD combo really improved my performance

This was by far the clearest, most logical introduction to guitar that I've ever read -- and trust me, I have a library full of books on the subject! I also liked that the book discusses all the various styles of playing guitar, including jazz, classical, blues, etc. I wish this book had been published back when I first bought my guitar -- I'd have had an easier time learning the basics!

A very good guitar book

This is a very good step by step book, leading you through each stage of development. I have a few othe books that will teach you a few basics, then make a huge jump into the middle of theory with little explaination. The CD has several helpful tracks including several examples played for you, background tracks, and even provides examples of several effects for electric guitar to give you an idea of what they are like and which you might really want. Overall an excellent starter book.
