A fresh new perspective

Tony Campolo gets it right yet again. He writes in a very chatty style which is easy to keep up with and presents Truth in a very palatable form, everyone can grasp. He uses a popular metaphor of a party to describe the transforming nature of the life Jesus wants to bring to all believers and through them to everybody today. If only believers would read it and realize what they are missing. If only others would read it and realize the church is not yet anything like what Jesus intends to still accomplish.

Kingdom of God is a Party.

This is one great book about an Awesome God, and how the concept of celebrating at God's all inclusive party, which can be wherever we are in any situation! Some new ideas that make sense. Praise the Lord!!

quick easy inspirational read

Some religious folks are so serious, humorless, uptight, and narrow-minded. It doesn't have to be that way. The wonderful quality of this book is that it makes God and faith exciting! In an inspiring, informative, and Biblically sound way, the author shows how living the Word of God can and should be a joyous and spiritually rejuvinating and uplifting (and FUN!) thing and that many of us believers need to re-capture that same spirit and verve. It shows how doing good, living through positivity and love, and leading the lonely, the oppressed, etc to their loving Heavenly Father can be a deeply enriching experience both personally and spiritually.David Rehakauthor of "Love and Madness"

I have to admit.

I like this book a lot. The title seems sacreligious, but his points are backed up with scripture. The only reason I didn't give it 5-stars is because he doesn't discuss the full range of scriptural teaching on the kingdom of God. But that's okay...after all, I suspect that his purpose in writing this book was only to focus on this one aspect of it. The book is an easy read and I recommend it wholeheartedly.

An eye opener

As usual Tony approaches this topic from a different angle than most. His thesis is that we've somehow lost touch with the joy and happiness of being part of God's Kingdom. From his fresh view of the tithe (10% of national income devoted to a party with God) to buying a prostitute a birthday cake as a demonstration of love, he makes a good case for why we're not enjoying our walk with God and why those who are not believers aren't all that interested about what we have.
