Deserves better reviews!

Loved this book and so impressed by the work and research it took to bring 100 year old cold cases to light. Several reviews were very unfair to the book in venting their frustration at getting the young readers version of the book instead of the original. A good point to be more careful when we order books, but that has nothing to do with the book or author.

Interesting piece of history!

I can't believe I never knew about this before reading this for book club. Very interesting although a little drawn out.

A Wonderful Read

Tragic and haunting to history but very much enjoyed. I have read a couple of times now just to truly memorize the story. Loved.

New book is young reader edition

I read the 2017 edition for book club and wanted a copy for my collection. I was not put off by having to purchase a new book, though the cover was different, usually the only content difference is in a forward or afterward. When I went to change my notes from the library copy to the new book I noticed some very stark differences. Whole sentences then paragraphs were gone. Poof disappeared from the text. To my horror it is because the new copies available are all young reader versions! It is fine to create such versions, do not sell them with adult versions as if they are the same. The removed content, in my opinion, is important to the theme of the work. Do not buy the new paperback

Grann brilliantly brings awareness to this tragedy

This book was a great read. Grann amazed me with his ability to switch narratives so gracefully. This has the makings of a great historical fiction novel, but is based entirely on true events. The research and investigative work that went into this definitely paid off!

Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI

I enjoy Grann's storytelling journalism in "Killers of the Flower Moon," revealing the dark and unjust history of the Osage Nation in Oklahoma. His narrative's not sensationalist or dramatic; he's just telling it as it is. I particularly liked his approach of introducing key characters like Hale and White by delving into their past and lived experiences, adding depth to the gripping tale of conspiracy, greed, and justice.

Abridged edition for young readers sent.

Like the other reviewers, the abridged edition was sent instead. Identified in very small lettering that it was for young readers. And unable to return.

Wrong version sent - “adapted for young readers”

Description never disclosed abridged version. It’s written on the cover in minuscule text. Disappointing.

Wonderful Read

Excellent book. Could not put it down.

Great book, unbelievable story

This book was recommended to me and I probably would never have come across this if it weren't for that recommendation. I am certainly glad I read this book, it opens a window to the past and sheds light on an unbelievable account of love, crime, and deceit.

Phenomenal

I'm not typically a fan of non-fiction, but this was written in such a way that it's almost like reading a fictional book, at the same time you're learning so much about this horrific past and what happened to the Osage people at this time.

Eye opening tragic American Injustice

This story is well detailed and a real page turner. I learned so much about our history regarding the early 20th century west, the birth of the FBI and the terrible fate of many in the Osage Nation. A dark picture of human greed and murder.

Part of our history unknown to me

Narrative nonfiction done so well. Gripping, sad, revealing.

One of my favorites! It's been read by 2 of my favorite people... My wife and daughter! Hard to put
