John Reader does a good job of combining historical, contemporary and naturalist perspectives in a sometimes comical summary of his photographic experience on Mt. Kilimanjaro. Not being a mountaneer, his story includes many amusing anecdotes that anyone who has climbed the moutain can relate to. And although not the strongest point, the photographs add just the right amount of tangibility and perspective to elicit fond memories from those that have already climbed it, or a strong desire in those that are thinking about it.
