Learning to knit can be enormous fun for five-to-ten-year-olds--especially when helped along by animal characters whose antics make each lesson a delight. This description may be from another edition of this product.
Although this book is aimed at children, adults who are taking up knitting for the first time will probably enjoy the book too. The book is written in a clear and simple manner with nice color illusrations throughout. The large print and large illustrations accompanying the stitch instructions will appeal to kids (and adults alike!). The knit sticth, purl stitch and stockinette stitch are introduced. There are also a few projects for new knitters to try. I think it would have been nice if the international knitting symbols for the knit stitch purl & stitch were included as well just for knowledge purposes.
Perfect first knitting book!

I bought this for my six year old daughter who was interested in learning to knit. It was explained so well in this book my mother in law now knows how to do a slip stitch where as before she would just tie the yarn to the needle, yes. Really. But no more! My daughter and her Grandmother are now slip stitch aficionados! The casting on for the six year old is coming along nicely but the actually knitting part is taking a little more practice. A great easy way to understand learning how to knit basics for the young (and young at heart).
The best knitting book!!!!!

Parents of five-to-ten-year-olds will find this an excellent basic guide to knitting which pairs very easy directions and kid-friendly patterns with lesson plans. Kids learn knitting in stages, with many fun projects to test new skills - and will also learn special techniques from sewing up seams to placing buttons. An excellent learner's guide for the very young.
