Among the unique projects included are earflap hats, a patchwork poncho, snail and butterfly pillows, a cupcake-shaped pin cushion, and a sweater with an optional hood.
I borrowed this book and a few other kids crochet books from my local library a few months back. By far this one was the best. At 26 with a few moments of single crochet and endless chains from childhood, I was just starting out and I couldn't read the adult pattern books so I got this one instead. This one takes you from your first square to your first sweater. Its amazingly clear and simple and has a good range of cute and practical projects. I just love the snail and butterfly pillows and the cute cupcake pincushion. If memory serves it will only tell you how to single crochet but it has an abbreviation chart for those hoping to move up to the more adult oriented patterns. It teaches shaping with increases and decreases, color changing, I believe a brief mention of care and cleaning, blocking technique and many other useful skills. There is also a list of websites and charities. I will most likely eventually add this one to my library as it has useful projects and will come in handy when I have children or need to teach a friend crochet.
Beautiful beginner's crochet book

I'm a 28 year old mother who is a beginner at crochet. This book may be geared towards children, but I can't help but be grateful for the simplicity of the instructions. It only teaches the single crochet, but that's great for a beginner like me. With the single crochet, I will learn how to make ribbing, change colors, crochet in the round and increase and decrease. The best part of the book is the wonderful projects! With this book as my guide, I will be able to make ribbed scarves, circular pillows, dolls, an afgan made with triangles (sooo cute!) and even a sweater, just to name a few. The book is beautiful. It reminds me of my Martha Stewart kid's magazine. If you're a beginner, no matter what your age, this book will serve to keep you hooked.
Great Source to teach kids to crochet!

I used this book to teach my class to crochet last year. It does only cover single crocet stiches and increasing and decreasing, but that is enough to introuce kids to this craft and give them a few projects to work on. My class loved making the striped mufflers. We got a lot of partial skiens of yarn donated and this worked perfect to make the mufflers with. Everyone's was unique and the kids, boys and girls alike, enjoyed wearing something they had made.
Love it!

I only been crocheting for 10 months now, but I stumbbled across this book at Border's Bookstore and came on here to buy it. It is simple and easy to understand for begginners. It doesn't cover all the stitches, but it helps you understand the basics and the projects are really cute. I highly recommend this book!

I'm actually a knitter, so this is my first crochet book. If you're just learning to crochet, this book gives excellent detailed step-by-step instructions. Most of the patterns are made to fit children from around 8-14years, but there are also super cute patterns like pillow covers and bags. I absolutely love this book!!!
