An Essential Framework For Spiritual Development

I bought this book used, having never heard of Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov. I was surprised at the softness and warmth emanating from the author's words (although technically he's not an author since his books are all lectures converted to book form). The main theme of this book is that we all have within us a higher self and a lower self, and that we express either one or the other depending on our intentions/actions. He explains how even the kindest, most noble person can turn into a demon under the right circumstances, because the demonic self never disappears, no matter how pure and spiritual you become. The only defence against the lower self is recognize it; to know which thoughts or mental suggestions come from the lower self, and then to ignore/deny them for the rest of your life. OMA gives several examples and repeats the main theme several times from different perspectives. The information provided in this book is most valuable when coupled with self-observation and the observation of those around us.
