FUN FUN FUN

Robert Rodi's KEPT BOY is a fun novel to read. This is a book one could read before bed. The story is funny, the characters are interesting, and the read is easy. The ending is a tad perdictable, but who cares. It's hard to believe that this book is Rodi's lastest (which came out about around 1998). I hope Mr. Rodi would come out with a new novel soon enough.

A Book Worth Reading Twice

A delightful book worth reading twice. Which I did in order to see the scenes from a different perspective. How cleverly Rodi manages to let us be misinformed. And what a surprise to discover the truth. I don't often stay up reading til 3 a.m. but I did with this one. There are numerous facical scenes that will have you not just giggling, but laughing outloud; and clever insight into characters one enjoys being with. I wish there was a sequel. Since there isn't I'll just have to read other Rodi books!

Hilarious Page Turner

I could not put this book down. I spent the whole weekend in bed with this fascinating reading. Rodi possesses a delightful vocabulary with which he artfully and engagingly spins a web of vivd imagery and powerful metaphors in this coming of age story that took me through the entire emotional spectrum all the way down to its unpredictable end. A must read.

If you liked Birdcage you'll love Kept Boy

Kept boy is a wonderful novel about a 30-something pampered "companion" to a over fifty very rich Chicagoian. To keep his lover's attention he must compete with the pool boy who has youth on his side and at the same time find a job. (The last time he was on the job market he was 15 and ran a cash box). It's enough to give him nightmeres and GOD not wrinkles! Completely wonderful and a delight to read
