Not Great

I have read several of Wanda Burnstetter's books and this one was just not it. I was bored throughout the whole book. I feel like the story could have been great but it was rushed and didn't live up to expectations.

great book!

Can't wait for the # 2 series to be published. This was an excellent book. Something a little different from the usual Amish books that W. Brunstetter writes. I really enjoyed the storyline and the ending too.

Kelly's Chance

I just love reading Wanda's books-I have for years! They are honest wholesome books and Kelly's Chance is another great read she has written. I have such an intrest in the Amish life!

A Chance Worth Taking

When I think of Wanda Brunstetter, I think Amish novels. But this one is not Amish, and even though I love the Amish novels that Wanda writes, this one was excellent! It is a wonderful historical novel about life in Pennsylvania and the struggles with living on the canal in the 1890's. It is a relaxing and enjoyable story and I didn't want to put the book down. Reading the story of Kelly and her will-power to leave the poor and difficult childhood she had behind and of the man who falls in love with her and tries teaching her about truly relying on God's will, really moved me.I was routing for Kelly through the whole book and praying she would find God's will for her life and truly lean on Him. Though I wouldn't trade my the life I live now for anything, there are times when I read one of Wanda Brunstetter's books and how she packs them full of history, love and God, makes me wish I was living the life of one of her characters! She really drew me in and captured my heart with this book, and I can't wait to read book 2 in the LeHigh Canal series, Besty's Return, and it makes Kelly's Chance one that I would highly recommend for an easy, fast read! Interesting and inspiring!

A relaxing, fast-paced and uplifting story about a hardworking young girl who breaks the pattern of her difficult childhood and finds happiness in her art and in a loving relationship. Mike is a very dynamic chanracter - loving, patient, and very open to listening to the Will of God. I developed a crush on him too! lol (From the back cover: Kelly MacGregor says she'll never marry, not after what she's seen her father do to her mother. She's determined to escape her father's overbearing ways and the drudgery of driving the mules that pull his boat along the canal. Kelly dreams of owning a gallery where she can sell her drawings and paintings. Mike Cooper believes Kelly is the woman God chose for him and wants nothing more than to be a husband who supports her artistic endeavors. But when Kelly declares she will never marry, Mike fears he has lost her forever.
