I've tried a lot of these different self-help books from time to time but this was the first one that really made a difference for me. It's easily read and written without a whole lot of technical language meant only to impress the reader. It's a very friendly book that becomes more of a three way dialogue with you the reader and with the Dr. and Mike, his patient. It gives concrete things you can do to simplify your life, which is becoming more and more important in today's world.
Maybe the only self-help book you'll read cover to cover.

This author has done the impossible, made me read a self-help book cover to cover. In the process I was entertained, laughed and thought a lot about the direction of my life. The brillance of this book is the style of following a very likeable funny therapist as he treats a patient through a number of sessions. There were times I couldn't wait until the next session just to see how the characters were doing. Yes, I loved the characters, and still it's self-help! The advice is so sound and the exercises just make you really consider what is the important part of your life and re-focus yourself on making your life better. If I ever need a therapist in my life, this is the shrink I want to see. Everyone talked simplicity a while ago, and God knows many people need it, but this author is the only one I know that has put together a step-by-step program to really accomplish simplifying your life. I would have given it five stars, but it's self-help and I reserve that for classics of the novel world. What a find!
