An emotional, thoughtful, and highly recommended YA novel

Theresa Martin Golding's Kat's Surrender is a compelling and sensitive novel written for young adults and introduces Kat O'Connor, a thirteen-year-old girl who has lost her mother to cancer. Hurt and alone, Kat befriends a homeless man with mental impairments. Trying to achieve equilibrium in her life, Kat witnesses a hit-and-run accident that puts her inner fortitude to the test in this emotional, thoughtful, and highly recommended YA novel.

Exciting, emotional and full of adventure

This book is masterfully written to engage a youngsters interest while at the same time providing a lesson on one of life's greatest emotional events, the loss of a loved one. While the premise may sound somber, the book is really full of adventure, mystery and romance. My neice loved it and couldn't put it down. I highly recommend this book!

Exellent reading for children from 10 to 90

Enjoyed the book a great deal particularly the vivid descriptions such as the "perfumed smell of the nuns" and the old car. There is a lesson for all of us to learn and that is you cann't judge people by their appearance.

Great for age group.

This book will keep a youngster enthralled. It did mine. I pre read all my childten's books and I actually enjoyed this one. There are some good lessons in here for kids even though they may not be aware of it. Lessons like trying to understand other peoples's problems, not to sit in judgment of others, and to value family and friends.

This was an awesome book. I couldn't put it down.

The ending was a total surprise! I loved it! The author described everything so well. Kat really reminds me of myself. A great book that acknowledges the pressure on teenagers. Great read for 10-15 year olds.
