After dumping her crime-fighting fianc, reporter Carmen Cole starts exposing the country's most powerful heroes and villains. But when her life is threatened, she'll have to rely on the city's sexiest crime-buster to save her.
Jennifer Estep's Karma Girl is a breadth of fresh air in this genre. It is not the same as the now popular paranormal romances that we see on the display shelves on each aisle of the nearest bookseller. She reinvents paranormal romance and instead of vampires, and werewolves, she incorporates her own comic book heroes in novel form. It has the grit and racy scenes that traditional comic books have and even the names of the locations are in the comic book style. Carmen grows on you. The events may seem outrageous at first but once you have given the book a chance it gives to the readers a new perspective on the comic book hero. It also helps that Striker is the sexiest superhero around. I do think that those late night visits should be incorporated more. They were very enjoyable and fitting for the genre. I loved the book and I will be reading the next one. I hope there will be more of Striker to see. If you are looking for a book that will keep you up reading at night, Karma Girl is sure to please. Did I mention the hot fleshed out Striker!
the book girl reviews Karma Girl

I really enjoyed Karma Girl. It is a very different take on the cheating fiance story. Karma Girl takes place in a world where superhero and ubervillains are plentiful. Towns are protected and destroyed daily. Carmen uses her investigating skills to "out" these people who are leading double lives. I felt sorry for Carmen, finding your fiance with someone else on your wedding day would send any woman off the edge. However, Carmen went way over. 3 years after the wedding that didn't happen she is still working to destroy the lives of the superheroes and ubervillains. Karma Girl is hilarious and sexy...a great read! more reviews at [...]
pleasantly surprised

I am a serious chick lit reader. I very often send my husband to the library since he knows what kinds of books I'll like. When he came home with this book, I was very skeptical. I am SO NOT into the super hero thing at all! But I decided to read it anyway. And let me tell you, I was very pleasantly surprised! (So much so, that I took it out of the library AGAIN!!!) I really enjoyed reading it, and I find myself looking forward to the next one!
First book I've ever bought because of a bookmark, and I'm glad I did

For the first time in my life, I bought a book because of a bookmark I received at a conference last May--and I'm glad I did. This was a super book with an amazing voice and a story world that existed beyond the pages. The author's detail to the setting was not overpowering but very vivid. The story was great. How Carmen re-aligns her karma and how she and Striker fall for each other kept me glued to the pages. I so totally fell for Striker (and not just because it's a soccer playing position and I'm a soccer fanatic.) I've read this book three times and loaned it out to three different readers--with the demand that they read it quickly so it's not long from my hands. My only regret is that I bought the book at the beginning of June and have to wait until November for the next one. If I'd waited, maybe there would be more books to luxuriate in. Jennifer Estep, please write faster!
You Know Your in Trouble When...

I had stumble across this book months before its release. I read the first chapter online, and knew that this was a must have. My hardest decision about the book was whether or not to preorder and get ASAP or wait and get it cheaper. I could not wait and am glad I did not. This is not a whodunit. You will have a good chance at guessing who most of the secret identities are. I enjoyed the characters and laughed my way through the book. I read it in less than seven hours and have already read it again. If you are looking to lighten your mood and enjoy a quick read, I highly recommend this author and her books. The next one Hot Mama will be out in November (I have already preorder it), and a Third one is on its way. I have found a new must have author, and am breathlessly waiting for the next installment.
