A good set up to the whole series. The other 4 one shots are pretty enjoyable too.

Started the Junior Escort series and finished all 4 available volumes on the same day. Could not stop reading from Vol 2 onwards. So vol 1 is a bit of a let down for the main story which only fills 25% of the book. But it is a good set up as we are introduced to the entertaining world which slowly and surely have Mizuhara and Ayu in its trap. Ended on an interesting encounter with the paparazzi which makes you want to know more about Mizuhara. 4 other stories here which are pretty enjoyable too. As the earlier reviewers have noted 2nd story is a shotacon which may not appeal to some. But this is part of the Yaoi genre and I take my hat off to DMP for giving it to us. 3rd story on a self abusive student who sells his body for money with a dark past is my favorite. 4th story on the growing love between 2 students which started off with just sex is mild compared to the rest. As for the last story, I like the complex relationship which has a credibility to it. And the caring friend does add freshness to this story.
Cute, mostly "coming-of-age", yaoi

This book is really between 4 and 4.5 stars to me. It was quite an enjoyable, light read. No explicit sex scenes (typical June's level of explicitness), but a few stories had quite mature content, so a lot was implied. The cover art is quite representative of this mangaka's style (so-so to me): the mangaka tends to draw most of her boys with really large eyes, they tend to look alike. Nonetheless, I did enjoy the stories. So far, it's really a collection of a few short and unrelated stories. I'm wondering how they will work out / come together (?) in the next volumes. The first two stories (title story) are on two actors / models in love, one being very famous and the other one ("junior") agreeing to have sex with him presumably because he perceives he can get advancement in his modeling / acting career. Very light story, somewhat typical, not that much of the plot / character development. "Angelic Seduction" story: a cute story about two boys falling in love for the first time. A warning: one of the boys is really young, but as nothing really explicit is shown (just implied, some kissing and touching is shown though), it reads as a sweet coming-of-age/first-love tale. My favorite is "Behind Closed Doors" (definitely, 5 stars for this one!). It's darker in tone, with a deeper plot and character development: one of the boys had very troubled past / childhood, and all his body is covered in scars. He's into S & M, but meets an innocent, kind schoolmate. I won't reveal more of the plot here, as it may spoil the reading experience. There are two more unrelated coming-of-age / "falling-in-love" stories in the book: fairly decent, though some may find them predictable (well, most yaoi is...). I liked the last story ("Baku") on two friends living together, the seme is confused and somewhat cruel; he has very much of "I love you-I hate you" attitude towards his uke. All the ukes in this book are very well aware of what they're doing (i.e., I haven't noticed any "non-con" here, and it's quite refreshing / original given that a lot of other yaoi stories tend to present ukes as very passive and clueless, gullible "victims" who incidentally happen to fall in love with their "tormentors" / semes). I'm definitely going to get all the next books in this series, and will check out other works by this author.
