This book takes you a step at a time through the learning-to-juggle process, beginning in a reassuring way with one ball in each hand. The little drawings that accompany each chapter are clear and useful. At first I thought it would be impossible to learn about a subject like this without taking actual lessons, but it is handled in such a clearcut way that you can't miss understanding the procedure. It is not easy to learn how to juggle, I've not gotten into the rhythm fully yet. The author, Ron Humphrey, tells you that though in his opinion it's something any of us can learn, that you will need to practice at least ten minutes a day every day and take it seriously. The book has 15 chapters and moves from the fundamental three-ball juggling skill to various other forms of juggling, The Fork, Two-in-One-Hand Combinations, etc. and works up to more complex tricks, juggling with more than three balls, working with a partner, Juggling Rings. The book ends with a professional perspective on showmanship and juggling. The nice thing about this book is you can go as far as you like or have time for. It is something that the really skilled can enjoy and also those of us who are basically klutzes!
