I read this book 2 times once when I was 18 and the second time when I was 28. The book from begining to end keeps you engaged and wanting more. I enjoyed it so much I gave it to my sister in law who also gave it to my mother in law. It was a great topic of discussion between us. Each character was well defined as children and as adults. When you get to the end you finally understand why each character behaved the way they did at certain times. the only problem that I have with the book is that there was no room for more. The ending is so finite. In the begining the book made me feel sorry for Joy, could not stand her middle sister and pittied Brenda but in the end I felt sorry for the middle sister and still pittied Brenda and was completley shocked by Joy. Over all the way the book was written you would have never guessed the ending.
