Journal of the Trail is about the Mormon pioneers and their journey to come to the Salt Lake valley to get religious freedom. It tells little journal stories about their hard time getting to the valley. I really thought this book was good. It was interesting to hear about the different things they had to do just to get here. The stories in the book are actually from real pioneers it is what they have written; which makes this book even more enjoyable to read because you actually are reading what they felt. This was book was easy to read because they are just short little stories but in a way it was a little hard to read because the English is written how they had spoken the English language and some of the spelling is wrong because of course it was written by the pioneer themselves. But that also made the book even more interesting it was sort of neat to see how they talked back then. One really great thing about this book is the journal entries are not from just one company they are from different companies, so you can read about what is happening to all the different companies at the same time. One thing that wasn't so good about this book it is kind of depressing and sad but that is just part of what happened. It was kind of neat to read this book especially because I live in Utah so I can see how much the pioneers had to suffer to come to this valley that I know live in. Although this book was not my favorite book I have ever read it was very good. One thing I did like was it was fast and easy to read because of the short journal entries. This book was definitely not intended for just a girl or boy, either could enjoy it. I also don't think there is really an age group I think anyone over the age of 12 could read it. So read Journal of The Trail it is a really good book.

Journal of the Trail is a book that tells of all the hardships that the Mormon pioneers had to face while traveling to the salt lake valley. The whole book is made up of journal entries made by the pioneers themselves. This is a very, very good book that gets you to the point that you almost think your standing with the pioneers making the long journey through the cold harsh winters of nebraska and wyoming. It is a very touching story of heroism and trials. one of the most famous is the story of three young men who carried many pioneers across the sweetwater river in icy cold water.
