Great Addition To Learning

This short 80-page book was written by Miriam Chaikin. The illustrations were by David Frampton. I found the woodcut drawings quite interesting. This book was about how Joshua led the Israelites to the Promised Land. It was a lot more interesting than reading a Social Studies book because the Social Studies Book only gives you the facts. ?Joshua in the Promised Land? puts you in those Israelite?s shoes thousands of years ago. The book itself wasn?t bad, it wasn?t great either. It helped if you had some knowledge of Ancient Hebrews before reading the book. The main character was Joshua, the leader of the group of Israelites. This group of Israelites completed tasks that people could only dream of doing today. They definitely were real people as I could detect from other sources in my Ancient Hebrew studies. The main challenge was to battle people in their path on the way to the Promised Land. The pacing of the book was good. It flowed nicely, some scenes were longer than others but that?s normal and doesn?t bother me. My favorite scene was the Walls of Jericho. It was a scene that really happened a number of years ago. The Israelites marched around the walls of the city of Jericho which was a city the Israelites needed to defeat in order to get to the Promised Land. I would recommend this book as an addition to your Social Studies Book. I wouldn?t recommend it as a pleasure reading book. The illustrations are good and it?s a short book, which I like. It?s a great book to make a movie out of, only for educational purposes though. Overall, it?s a good addition to your Social Studies book, and it helps to have knowledge of Ancient Hebrews before you start reading.
