John Patrick Rules

Quite simply, if you read and take to heart what JP says, you will increase your odds of getting out of a casino a winner, or less of a loser. He is very pragmatic, very funny, and right on. EVERY gambler will see himself in JPs descriptions and if you don't laugh and say that is me, then you will continue your losing ways. His rules of gambling and his simplicity of approach are all that 99% of people out there need to know. Any idiot that says they go to Vegas and win all the time is a pathological liar and a fool. His books take you from step one to as far as you want to go - his blackjack book is awesome and debunks a lot of "conventional" wisdom that has no basis in the real world of gambling. Get and read his basic craps and blackjack books, follow his basic rules, and you will be a far better gambler and more knowledgable than 95% of the gamblers out there....

GREAT Craps Book

This is a great book. I had played craps for a couple of years, but my playing style was always based on the feel of the table and what the dice might do. I would hear other people tell me I should try this or that. This book EXPLAINS the craps table, the house edge, what you can do to reduce the house edge and much more. One thing about this book is that it will tell you that no matter what system you are playing there is still only a 50/50 chance you will walk away a winner. This book is great and really does a lot to show you how to play, what not to play, and why. Lots of great methods in the book too. I cannot wait to read the Advanced book now.

Good, sound advice.

This is the first book I have read on casino gambling. I am a novice gambler and I found John Patrick's advice to be solid and sound. He wants you to make smart decisions and not expect miracles. There are no gimmicks, no empty promises. He has little tolerance for a loser mentality and is uncompromising on what he thinks is the right or wrong way to go. I will continue to go back to the book as I play more and more because there are many different strategies and I can only absorb and put into practice so much information at once. I just got back from Vegas and I cannot report that I came home with more money than I left with, but I did go there with some parameters to begin playing with and enough confidence to step up to the craps table. Hopefully the dice will be hotter during my next outing.

The Only Way to Beat the Tables

John Patrick is, by far, the authority on gambling- especially at the tables. I have gone from loser (big time) to winner by studying his books and methods. John Patrick's Craps contians not only the best approach to craps ever put on paper, but also gives the reader a foundation with which to attack all games in a casino. My personal experience with Mr. Patrick's books has enabled me to master five different table games. I have become known and respected by many casino personal in Reno, NV as a tough player. I win small amounts consistently. Futhermore, the foundation I have recieved has enabled me to actually learn how to be a competitor (and a fierce one at that) at the low-limit poker games in the Nevada casinos. Be forwarned: John's style is like that of a coach. If you are really timid or thin-skinned, it may not be the book for you (then again, gambling may not be for you either). But, if you are a competitor whose desire is to win, this and all of Mr. Patrick's books are priceless!
