.Joe Gibbs and His Passions In Life

The book I read was a personal prospective of Joe Gibb's football career but most importantly a review of his trials and blessings in life. It was a honest and open insight of his personal decisions in all aspects of his life. In reference to his professional career it described his struggle to go from a assistant coach at the college level, which began at San Diego State in 1964 to obtaining his ultimate goal of becoming a head coach. To his surprise he not only succeeded in obtaining this career goal but was blessed to become a Hall of Fame Head Coach in the National Football League. Joe Gibbs started in the pros in 1973 with the St. Louis Cardinals but was most known for his career with the Washington Redskins beginning in 1981 as head coach and remained in that position for ten years. Joe gives a very personal account of his bad decisions he made along the way financially and also personally with his family. He describes in detail the difficulty he had trying to balance both career responsibilities and family. He is very honest and open about the personal regrets he has in reference to both. Most important his book also contains his personal walk with Christ and gives a very powerful and bold statement in his own personal beliefs.

Radiant Leader

This book says what life is about from a man who had everything, so it seemed, and left that career for a family who needed him more. Those who say he pours religion into it too much; shame on you. This country needs more good men like Joe who will tell his story--even if it includes his spirituality. What a great man, husband, father and coach. We are so inspired by his life that we named our first (and only) son Coy after his own young son. Now that his family is established and grown, he's back . . . and on top. Seems as if his spirituality may have been the right road all along. Go for it Joe--you deserve it all!

A MAN OF FAITH--TRIUMPHS AND TRIALS OF JOE GIBBS

This is a terrific book, it not only gives insights into Joe's NFL career, but you also learn about the the trials and difficulties he exprienced off the field as well. You read interesting anecdotes about the NFL, and also about his personal life --how his wife almost died, how Joe's workaholic ways impacted his family, and also caused financial problems. Joe's faith in God enabled him to get through these difficulties and helped him to realize what is really important in life. Because Joe incorporates his deep faith in Jesus Christ into his everyday life, he shares these beliefs and his spiritual thoughts. Some readers may complain about the spiritual aspect of this book, but this is an important part of who the man is.
