Can the Paper Marriage Turn Golden?

Annie Patterson works at Roy's Coffee Shop in Tulsa. She drives a twelve-year-old clunker that is always breaking down and she is struggling to make ends meet. If she can only keep it together for one more semester, she'll be able to graduate and be a licensed social worker. Then out of the blue a handsome stranger named Matt Walker comes into the diner, takes a good look at her and orders scrambled eggs, then adds, "and a wife, would you be interested?" The first thought to strike Annie was that this was the answer to her prayers. She asks a few questions, finds out Matt's ex-wife is an alcoholic and she has custody of his five-year-old daughter Shelby. However, if he has a wife, the courts will give him his daughter. Plus, he offers to pay her. All she has to do is pretend to be married, and, of course, stay with him on his ranch on the backside of nowhere in Montana. Annie agrees and it looks like Shelby might be home with Matt for the Christmas holidays and that was according to plan, but falling in love with Matt, that wasn't part of the plan at all. So what is going to become of Annie? "Jingle Bell Bride" was a pleasant read, one that I enjoyed and I think you'll like it too. There weren't many surprises here, but the well written, well crafted story made up for that. I highly recommend this one.
