This book is worth it just for the pictures--big, glorious, full-color pictures by one of the world's best illustrators. However, each page has just two lines per poem; I'm not sure why the entire poems weren't included (for instance, "Jack fell down and broke his crown and Jill came tumbling after" is missing the first two lines!) There are ten poems, each with its own large, gorgeous picture. The last spread has some suggestions for activities that parents might do with their child. Examples: Hush-Bye-Baby suggests getting a library book that explains gravity, and thinking of other nursery rhymes that relate to gravity. Hot Cross Buns suggests visiting a website that has a recipe posted and making some yourself. Most of these seem beyond the toddlers that this book is geared for. I think the space would have been better used by including two more beautiful pictures and poems.
