What more could you want?

The only thing that is bad about this book is that it hasn't been updated and therefore as a language book, the more the language changes, the more stale this book gets.Publishers! Writers! Take the time to fully update this book please!!So, yes. Excellent book. A list of words. What more could you ask for when studying Japanese vocabulary from English? Well organized and designed for easy study and testing of what you've remembered. This book was almost exactly what I was looking for when I wanted to boost my vocabulary.

Best Japanese Tango Book Around!

If you are looking for a great way to learn japanese vocabulary then this is the right book!It organizes words by catagories (economics) and then sub-catagories (finance). It has a table of contents in the beginning. It lists the word in English, romaji, and ji (or hiragana/katakana).This is not a dictonary - but it has proved to be an invaluable study aid. If you are interested in increasing your vocabulary then I highly recommend this book.

Essential for serious students and those living in Japan

This book has really saved my butt a number of times and I can't recommend it highly enough. As is mentioned in the other review, this book is arranged by topic. Example: I had to go open a bank account. Before I went to the bank, I sat down and learned all the words in the banking section. Worked like a charm. Also, the book stars the absolutely essential words. Also, the general adjectives and verbs section at the end is a crucial resource. All words are listed in both English, roomaji, and katakana. It's also the best vocab builder I've used. Pick a section while you ride the ubiquitous japanese rail system and learn a topic. You should be able to have a conversation the topic by the end of the trip ;-)Essential.

Best book yet for intermediate learners.

This book provides the student of japanese a method of learning vocabulary not found in any other medium. The book is organized according to topic, not alphabetized like a dictionary. I have found it indespensible for my language study. It gives a broad view of specifics within the language. Where before you would have to go to a bookstore and find a specialty book (if you could) to learn all the words at a funeral, you can just check the section on funerals. I found this to be excellent! good luck on your nihongo! Ganbaroo
