Jane wishes for better looks, talent, a friend, a kitten, a room of her own--but decides to be happy anyway. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I bought it at an eclectic toy store in Pittsburgh when they were kids. The oldest was soon to enter the stage when she would be a gangly ugly duckling before she blossomed into a swan. It became an integral part of their growing up, along with Miss Rumphius and Free to Be You and Me. At that time, it hadn't been 'discovered' yet, and made it to the big volume stores. It's good to know it has been 'rediscovered'. Too bad it's not in print, though. I hope many more grown girls will come to look back on it fondly as an unforgettable and important element of their growth, as do my 3 'swans'.
