A biography of an American author noted for his books on racial conflict in the United States. This description may be from another edition of this product.
Even though this book is intended for younger people, adults will also learn a lot from this informative book. The author not only gives a good solid biography of James Baldwin, but looks at the civil rights movement and Baldwin's impact as an author and as a person committed to social justice. The book has great photos of Baldwin, his friends, and other leaders in the civil rights movement. Sometimes the writing is a bit more detailed than one would expect in such a brief book, but the author does her best to put Baldwin and his various books and writings into context around civil rights. The book includes a nice glossary and a brief but good bibliography. Overall, a nicely written book about an amazing man and his times.
