Jambalaya for the Soul

Jambalaya for the Soul by Jesse Duplantis is a wonderful book. Yes, it has recipes and 'Cajun' language lessons. It is filled with food for the soul and spirit served with a mix of joy. My husband, who hardly ever reads anything, would stop by the house for a minute, pick up the book and read a couple of pages and leave laughing. Merry heart does good like a medicine (medical science has finally agreed) and laughter is a great stress reliever also. We bought several copies to give because of the humor and the depth of spiritual insight. The book is just plain fun! God is a joyous God!

Great read!

A very entertaining and fast read. He has some great and funny stories to share. Though I have heard some of them before it was still fun. It's like he's reading them to you:)

This book is absolutely hilarious

I've seen a little of Jesse Duplantis on video in the past, so I haven't heard many of his sermons. This book has brought encouragement to my heart and spirit - he's vulnerable, frank, and tell-it-like-it-is. The most important component of the book is that each chapter story ends with a powerful lesson in daily living. To be sensitive to the Holy Spirit, to be obedient - no matter what the cost, and to remember that God sees even when no one else is looking. The recipes are humorous and easy to understand - unlike other Cajun recipes I've seen! Unable to compare this book to a knowledge of his sermons and usual writing style, I rate this book an empathic 5 stars!

Great Stories but Questionable Recipes

Some of the recipes didn't sound too good- but many of them are very good. My husband has had a ball trying to make many of them. The stories are funny, yet most of them bring home their point very well. I appreciated that this was not in your face Christian writing, but rather gentle reminders that we all need to take care of ourselves spiritually.
