Jagger Unauthorized

I have read a lot of books on the Stones. Most were from people who knew Mick Jagger personally. This book was throughly researched and is by far the best book to date written about an extraordinary front man. Mick might have protested the publish of this book due to the accuracy of the contents within. Mick had a main focus to be rich, worldly known and to be thought of as young and gorgeous till death. I imagine the parts in the book he has issues with are his gallivanting with teenage girls when he is in his 40's. I had a problem with that. It seems most idyllic rock stars have a problem with growing old so as they get older there women get younger and younger. It could make you scream child molester, but since most of these girls he hooks up with have the permission or be greatly influenced by there parents to pursue Mick it seems alright in the rock world. Well, in his 40's he comes to realization that he has kids and he should be a father. It becomes apparent in the book that without Micks skills in economics and business The Rolling Stones would not be where they are today, not by a long shot. In the 80's they were going thru alot of turmoil due to drug issues in the band and Mick thinking the other band members looked like fossils, not knowing that he too was becoming a relic. Mick deserves a lot of kudos for making The Rolling Stones the longest running greatest band in the world. This book is an excellent read on the incite and mind of the greatest front man in the world. AND MICK KNOWS IT!

Book shines light on dark under Stones

I've read quite a few books on the Stones and know that this book is very close to what really happened. Anybody growing up in a rock and roll environment knows that the only way to get the true story is from the participants that were the receivers of the most active part of the action in this case Mick Jagger. The book is written from the perspectives of the people that Jagger has personally impacted such as relatives, roadies, lovers and chums in amazing detail! Most Stones fan would dismiss the book because Jagger's their hero and who wants to hear bad about their role model? The proof is in the evidence. A bunch of kids, an ex thrown to the wayside to fend for herself and Jagger's kid on social security, the words to the songs, the drug convictions, the years on Jagger and Richards and the sociology of the time periods. I personally know that much of this book is reality. How else would the author get the details that they did that are spot on knowledge of lifelong Stone devotees? It's the culture. Mick Jagger did not become an icon of the pop culture by just singing in a rock and roll band. He had to be a social aberrant to be the international, multi-dimensional classic icon that he is. And yes, Madonna was a Stones groupie and very obnoxious (still is) and a third tier Alvin Ailey dancer: one step past a primadonna. Some of the comments below are pretty funny grasps at trying to discredit the book; wrong picture, poorly written, typos? Yes there's some of this going on, but it's the job of the publisher to clear these things up. The author gets the ideas down as well as they can and the publisher does the rest, it's the way the publishing business works, typos and all. Maybe the publisher was aware of the liability issues associated with this book and probably just wanted to get it out as quickly as possible. My advice is to do a google search on the author and see how powerful this guy is. A former contributing editor of Time and senior editor of People, also written hundreds of articles for a wide range of publications, including Life and the New York Times. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm? I've followed the Stones very closely from the beginning and know quite a bit about them behind the scenes through people that have worked with them. I highly recommend this book!!!!!!! It's a very significant work that is a must read. Those of you growing up with Stones and a part of their culture will know. GET IT!
