This novel was the perfect sequel to Missing By Choice as we once again return to the world of expatriate Morgan Adams who is living in Pattaya,Thailand and making money by doing multiple kinds of investigating jobs for customers in Thailand and her neighboring countries in the region. This time around,Morgan is "enlisted" by an American businessman in Hong Kong who wants Morgan to track down and procure a massive-sized piece of jade somewhere along the Thai/Burma border.Morgan agrees and proceeds to get into a dangerous operation that includes Karen resistance fighters, jade smugglers, opium warlords, untrustworthy Western mercenaries and a beautiful American girl who accompanies him on a trip into Burma on behalf of Baptist groups of American origins who wish to help out the Karen people. As usual, the assignment goes haywire nearly at the beginning and we are treated to seeing how a knowledgable expat like Morgan gets through all the problems and life-threatening circumstances he encounters in Bangkok,Pattaya and upcountry in northern Thailand.Morgan's general outlook on life in that part of the world is a wonderful mixture of reality, sarcasm and humorous one-liners that had me laughing out loud. If you want to have fun and get an honest perception of an expat having adventures in Thailand, this is an outstanding route to travel!
