Book Overview

The iconic First Lady, Jackie lived her life in a fishbowl yet she was shrouded in mystery. She was the epitome of style, poise, grace, and femininity, but her lifelong silence in front of the media has left many unanswered questions.

In this juicy yet reverential examination of her life, Eve Pollard's insight into what made America's most admired woman tick is blended into a page-turning, believable thriller. Starting from the somber days...

Jack's Widow. Worth a read.

This is a "good" book, enough going on to make you want to turn the page, interesting portrayals of people we all know about. But the trap is that it is fiction or at the best faction. Who knows which bits are true? Interesting to speculate and consider the what if's? I knew it was fiction before I started (although this is not clear from the blurb, I just took that attitude) but the trap is that it gets you in until you realise that you that you are starting to believe it as "true facts". I was two-thirds of the way through the book before I got pulled up by Marilyn Monroes's death. Can't say more - spoiler. Worth reading, but go and check the facts too.

Interesting

Since I knew the author was a former biographer, I expected this to be more true to what's already known about the subject. Instead, Ms. Pollard has written an imaginative projection of what might have been. It's really fascinating, and once I got past my "not what I expected" moment, I enjoyed it very much. I also think it's interesting that while there's nothing to prove things could have happened they way Ms. Pollard imagines, there's nothing to prove they couldn't...

jack's widow

I loved the whole book from the great pink cover to the last page. Fabulously interesting facts interwoven with "what ifs". Jackie pops off the page in a new dimension with twists. Once I started it couldn't put it down because of the fascination of Jackie the woman and the Jackie who belonged to the world of political secrets. I loved Jackie and I love this book. You won't be disappointed....

Exceeded my expectations

Beautifully written and with enough plot to keep me turning the pages until the very end -- this was a book that I couldn't put down. I felt as if I was really getting to know Jackie Kennedy and -- fiction, though it may be -- I enjoyed imagining that she really may have developed a life of politics (and political intrigue) even after her White House days were over. I will be passing this book on to my mother and all my friends! Victoria Simon, Los Angeles

New and fascinating insights into the mind of America's most iconic First Lady

Have just finished Jack's Widow, which I read almost in one go and couldn't put down. This may be billed as fiction but it goes further than any biog I've ever read to explain some of the mystery surrounding Jackie O. So who knows? Fiction or not it is full of fascinating little titbits about Jackie - did you know she used have all her underwear dyed skin colour so it always looked as though she was naked. Great idea!! I guess Ms Pollard knows all these riveting details because she was Jackie's biographer. The espionage stuff was unexpected and at first I thought it would get in the way of all the emotional stuff but I found myself getting caught up in the excitement of the plot. It had obviously been meticulously researched so who cares if it's true or not. If you're a Jackie O fan or not, this is a good read Wendy Miles
