An inspiring true story, sure to delight children and adults!

Gijsbert (Nick) and Robbyn van Frankenhuyzen are a couple who used to spend years rescuing orphaned and injured wildlife at their 40-acre farm in rural Michigan, named Hazel Ridge farm. They are now retired but the stories of their rehabilitation efforts live on in their books, the Hazel Ridge Farm stories series. "Itsy Bitsy & Teeny Weeny" are a pair of orphaned animals - Itsy Bitsy is an orphaned deer, and Teeny Weeny a lamb which was unfortunate enough to be the runt of the family and thus rejected by its mother. Robbyn raises these two animals in close proximity to each other, and the pair grow up and play together like real-life siblings. But as the seasons pass and the animals mature, Teeny Weeny reflects its true nature - preferring the security of the farm behind the wire fence, whereas Itsy Bitsy, the wild creature that he is, prefers the freedom of the great beyond, landing himself in trouble over and over. It is up to Robbyn to decide where Itsy Bitsy's real destiny lies. The story is well-told, and enhanced by the wonderful full-color illustrations, bringing the story of the orphaned animals to vibrant life. This is a story that one can read again and again and not be tired, especially whilst perusing the beautiful illustrations. Hazel Ridge, where we would all like to live!

There is an over-used word, "heart-warming" when talking about children's books. But, the perfect one for this sweet story. For children who do not know anything about living on a farm and relating to injured animals. Hazel Ridge is not just an imaginary place, while showing us the right thing to do with injured animals. This is the best so far in the Hazel Ridge Series. Robbyn always gets to touch our hearts with her relationship to the animals she has saved. Robbyn and Nick, (the artist), show the best way to be part of this world. Buy this book for every child who is out of touch with any thing but television and movies. They will be touched by the story, and the pictures.
