A Worthwhile Read

The first 2 or 3 chapters are really quite compelling. The author explains the powerful emotional component of the Italian-American writers at the turn of the century into the 1940's. I found that all quite gripping to read. The last several chapters fade somewhat in comparison to the earlier ones, but, overall, I would recommend the book to anyone interested in American literature.
